Former Columbia, South Carolina police officer, Keith Ryan Williamson, has been terminated from his position based on charges he is facing of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
The incident took place back in October of 2021 in Lexington County where Williamson, 35, is accused of sexually assaulting a person whom he knew was incapacitated at the time. Once the complaint was filed by one of the victims, Williamson was placed on investigatory suspension. It is unclear if Williamson was paid during his suspension and Valid Media is working to obtain clarification on the matter.
Investigators from both the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Internal Affairs gathered evidence from multiple victims, including phone and medical records and after a five month investigation, enough evidence had been amassed to issue a warrant for Williamson's arrest.
Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook confirmed Williamson's dismissal immediately following his arrest. Before being fired, Williamson was a sergeant who had joined the department in 2010.
According to SLED, Williamson was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center, and his case will be prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s Office.
