Warning: This is a sick story about a law enforcement officer who, luckily, has been fired from his job. Continue reading for full details.
Deputy Sheriff Joshua Brack from Palm Beach Sheriff's Office in Florida is in seriously hot water after his now ex-girlfriend contacted authorities about Brack's on-the-job behavior - behavior that almost anyone would consider extremely immoral and disgusting.
Brack's problems all began on June 15, 2021 after he and his girlfriend had a domestic dispute. At the time, the two had been a couple for a two years and had been living together for about nine months. The dispute was reported by the woman to the sheriff's department, so one of Brack's PBSO colleagues visited the couple's home to investigate.
When the investigating PBSO deputy arrived, the woman began to spill the beans. She reported a laundry list of immoral and illegal offenses allegedly committed by Brack - many of which happened while he was on the clock.
Here are just a few of those offenses:
Brack allegedly sent money to different males after having sex with them. Some incidents occurred while he was on duty.
Brack allegedly engaged in traffic stops and seized marijuana from individuals, never turned it into evidence, and brought it home for the woman (his former girlfriend) to sell.
Brack allegedly engaged in traffic enforcement and would steal money from people.
Brack allegedly drove the woman around in his marked PBSO vehicle, while on duty, when assigned to District 13. Once she was inside the vehicle when he was called to the scene to a shooting in South Bay.
Brack allegedly sent the woman many videos and photographs he took from calls he responded to.
While on and off duty, Brack allegedly took photos of his penis and sent it to males he met on Grindr, the world's largest social networking app for gay, bi, trans, and queer people.
Brack allegedly responded to large Hispanic communities while in District 15 to randomly search people and steal their belongings
Brack allegedly sent his ex-girlfriend videos of a crime scene where a person was laying decapitated and dead in the middle of the road. The video was shown, which was on the woman's phone, was shown to the responding deputy.
Brack allegedly sent money to other men, and in return they would send him nude photographs of their genitals and/or of them in sexual poses.
Brack would also allegedly steal lighters and brass knuckles from those he would pull over
Brack allegedley would miss household bill payments because he would spend his money on male prostitutes instead
After hearing the stories, the responding deputy had no choice but to involve his superior, a sergeant who was the District 13 road patrol supervisor. The sergeant arrived on-scene to continue the interview with Brack's girlfriend, and after gathering more information, decided to turn the investigation over to the PBSO Violent Crimes Division who opened an investigation.
VCD collaborated with the Tactical Intelligence Unit to secretly follow and collect intelligence on Brack. A GPS tracker was installed on Brack's patrol car. Between June 19 and June 30, 2021, the two teams loaded Internal Affairs up with tons of logs, videos, and pictures captured while conducting surveillance on Brack.
Not only was Brack using his patrol vehicle for personal use, he would commonly drive it to other towns including Riviera Beach, Lake Park and ride other people around town, going to places like Save-A-Lot, Walmart, a Git-N-Split convenience store, and McDonald's.
On one ocassion, surveillance efforts captured video of Brack picking up a woman and an infant in his patrol vehicle. While speeding more than 35 miles over the limit, Brack allowed the infant to be a passenger in the vehicle without a car seat. At one point, he drove so fast that officials conducting surveillance were forced to pull Brack's patrol vehicle over and brought him a car seat for the baby.
The investigation also reviewed Brack's email activity. On different ocassions, Brack used his official work email account to send nude images to other email accounts. At least three of the photos send were of Brack himself. In the photos, Brack is seen wearing his uniform while at work in a restroom. His pants were off as he bent over for the camera, showing his rear end and genitals from the back.
After an eleven day investigation, Internal Affairs investigation released a summary of everything that was described.
In the "Recommended Findings" section, there were seven instances that began with,
“A preponderance of evidence does exist to show D/S Joshua Brack violated Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Rule and Regulation”
The Internal Affairs investigator found there were seven Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office rules and regulations Brack violated:
standard of conduct
neglect of duty (2x)
improper conduct offenses (3x)
dissemination of information
Interestingly, the investigation determined Brack didn't violate
any laws although he was fired from the sheriff's office.
