Nearly four years after being arrested, a former Harris County deputy pleads guilty for possession of child pornography on Friday.
On March 29, 2018, Donald Dehnert, a former Harris County deputy, was charged with three felony counts of possession of child pornography.
On Friday, March 18, nearly four years later, the 50-year-old plead guilty to those charges.
Dehnert admitted that he had saved child pornography on a thumb drive that was discovered during a search performed at the former deputy's home in Kingwood, Texas, a suburb of northeast Houston. The images contained graphic images of children, including some under the age of 3, engaged in sexual acts.
According to other news sources, Dehnert joined the Harris County Sheriff's Department 30 years go and has recently been fired.
According to research conducted by Valid Media, neighbors of Dehnert claim he raised three children as a single father in the suburban community of Kingwood. Those same neighbors say Dehnert's children are now grown and no longer live at home with their father and that Dehnert's ex-wife was, at some point, a law enforcement officer, too.
The agencies involved in the investigation include the Grand Prairie Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Texas Rangers and the Harris County Sheriff's Office in partnership with the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
